Raio-X
A free X-ray of what your property shows online.
We call it the Raio-X Digital (raio-X is Portuguese for X-ray). We look at what a guest, Google and an AI assistant find when they search for your hotel, quinta or holiday rental: the website, the e-mail, the legal notices and the path to a booking. You get the result on one page, and nobody else does.

What we look at on the visit
What we check
Nine areas anyone can see.
For each one we tell you what we found and what to fix first.
- 01
Domain and website
Whether the address opens, redirects to https and has a valid certificate, and when the domain is due for renewal.
- 02
Speed on a phone
How long the home page takes to show its main content on a phone, measured with Lighthouse, the engine behind Google’s PageSpeed Insights.
- 03
Google basics
Page titles and descriptions, a main heading, a sitemap, language versions and the structured data that tells Google you are a place to stay.
- 04
Read by AI assistants
Whether the text can be read without images or JavaScript, whether robots.txt lets in the ChatGPT and Google crawlers, and whether the facts match your Google profile.
- 05
Direct booking
Whether there is a booking engine that works on a phone, or whether guests are sent to an e-mail address, a form or a platform that takes a commission.
- 06
E-mail (SPF, DMARC)
The domain’s public records that tell mail servers who may send e-mail in your name and what to do with forgeries.
- 07
Legal notices
The link to the Livro de Reclamações (Portugal’s official complaints book), the alternative dispute-resolution body, the registration number for holiday rentals, and the privacy policy.
- 08
Accessibility
Contrast, alternative text on images, labelled form fields and keyboard navigation, measured with Lighthouse.
- 09
Software the server gives away
Versions of WordPress, plugins or server software that the site shows in its headers and page code, which help anyone looking for outdated sites.
What the Raio-X Digital gives you
- One page, in Portuguese or English, with what we found and what to fix first.
- Handed over in person or talked through on a call, as you prefer.
- For you alone. We never publish the result or rank your property against others.
What the Raio-X Digital never does
- We never ask for passwords or access to any account.
- We run no port scans and no vulnerability tests against your server.
- We do not go looking for hidden pages.
We only look at what any visitor, or Google’s own tools, can see.
November 2026 study
What we found in the eastern Algarve
In November 2026 we checked the 109 websites that tourist establishments in the eastern Algarve (Sotavento) list in Portugal’s national tourism register, with the same passive method as the Raio-X. Holiday rentals (alojamento local) were left out: their register has no website field.
-
15
of the 109 websites did not open
11 addresses do not resolve or are mistyped in the register, 1 timed out and 3 returned an error.
-
9.5 s
until the main content appears on a phone (median)
Lighthouse 12.8 lab test, mobile profile with simulated slow 4G, 91 sites. Google rates under 2.5 s as good.
-
67%
of domains give no instruction to reject or quarantine forged e-mail
56 of 83 domains: 33 with no DMARC record and 23 at p=none, which only monitors.
-
31%
of websites with no link to the Livro de Reclamações on the home page
On 29 of the 94 websites that opened we found no link on the home page. It may be on another page.
One run on 8 November 2026, 01:00 to 01:58 Lisbon time. The figures are for the whole set; we never publish the result of any property.

What protects a property day to day is inside it.
Every property receives automatic attack attempts, large or small, however well it is run. The useful question is what happens when one reaches yours. The Raio-X Digital only sees what is public; on a visit, we look at the rest with you.
Before the visit we ask for a few numbers: how many work computers and people, how many e-mail accounts, whether there are cameras and how many buildings. From those we send an estimate, and the quote is confirmed in a short call.
What you receive
- Booking, Airbnb, Google and e-mail with two-step login, switched on during the visit with whoever uses them.
- A short written report of what we found.
- A quote for whatever needs fixing. The decision is yours.
What we look at on the visit
- 01
Staff computers and phones kept up to date: system, browser and apps.
- 02
Virus protection installed and working.
- 03
Remote-access programs (AnyDesk, TeamViewer and the like) installed or left running when nobody needs them.
- 04
The router: its admin locked and nothing opened to the internet that should not be, such as cameras, recorders or network drives.
- 05
The guest Wi-Fi kept apart from the reception and office network, and from cameras and other devices.
- 06
Backups that exist and have been restored at least once.
- 07
Staff accounts: everyone with their own, and access removed for anyone who has left.
- 08
Booking, Airbnb, Google and e-mail with two-step login.
We also build the tools a property runs on every day: housekeeping on the phone, online check-in that files the SIBA guest report by itself, invoices issued automatically.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the Raio-X cost?
The Raio-X Digital is free and does not commit you to anything. The on-site Raio-X is quoted to measure: from the numbers you give us in the form we send an estimate before we book the visit.
Do you need access, or to install anything?
For the Raio-X Digital, no: we only look at what any visitor or Google’s tools can see. The on-site Raio-X happens at the property, with you and whoever uses each computer and account.
Who sees the result?
Only you, or whoever you name. We hand it over in person or on a call and never publish it. The figures from the eastern Algarve study are for the whole set and identify nobody.
What happens next?
You decide, in your own time. After the Raio-X Digital you can fix things yourself from the page we hand you, or ask for the on-site Raio-X. After the on-site Raio-X you get the report and a quote for whatever needs fixing.
Who can ask for one?
Small hotels, quintas, rural guesthouses and holiday rentals. The on-site Raio-X also suits other businesses with a small team: offices, clinics, estate agencies, restaurants. We are based in Tavira and work mostly in the Algarve.
